”Will Ya Be My Friend”

When translating from a flat surface the true visual access of my little world can sometimes become lost. Although, in many ways, I guess it’s more like a key. But, to open up the door in a tangible form like video is a special treat for me to share with others. Yet, it’s not about me. “Will Ya Be My Friend” is an excavation of the soul and contents therein. It’s a journey of complimentary “F” words: Fear, Fun, Friends and Faith. Not only in the visualization of song and dance, but life and connection in creativity to that of a higher power. It’s often overlooked, even when knocking outside or thumping inside each of us. And if you find your own way of celebrating it, then more power to you.

Thank you David Seume for allowing us to pick a song on our own, and at that, a song that came fully equipped on it’s own merit. It spoke like the locust, allowing an identity for all three of us to share in childlike awe and with hope that others will take something home too, maybe even come back for multiple visits. Philip Cheaney nailed the vision and with additional flavors enhanced it greatly. None of this video art would make sense without his and David’s exceptional work, as well as the understandings of our friendship in life and creativity.
